It seems like trends come and go so fast today there is hardly time to enjoy the current hot item! We all loved grabbing our strawberries, cream puffs, brownie bits and dipping them in the stream of chocolate from the cascading fountains, but those days are long gone. The cakepop is still playing out, but after Starbucks picked them up they became mainstream and the novelty has worn off. The cupcake will forever be fun, but people aren’t craving them as they once did. Bacon has "jumped the shark", and while still yummy its pairing with chocolate is so "yesterday."
It seems whoopie pies and macaroons are beginning to head out, though their novelty hasn’t worn off yet. The trends on the rise look to be pudding and desserts in mason jars. What are your thoughts on the next big sweet to make its way to mainstream?
Dairy Queen and Cheesecake Factory are mainstays with their Famous Blizzards and Cheesecakes. These have stood the test of time and will remain classic in the world of dessert. And who could blame them - even at 10 AM a stop at the old DQ drive-thru sounds appealing!
